⢠Researched and provided consulting to staff on issues relating to Medicaid, healthcare technology and medical school innovations. ⢠Provided office, clerical and administrative support and solutions in legislative assistant's absence. ⢠Managed phone, written, and in-person communications with constituents regarding questions and concerns. ⢠Maintained Correspondence Management System records on constituent communications. ⢠Gathered and organized healthcare and medical education related content for the Senator's weekly medical school initiative newsletter, and created a system for tagging and tracking all articles sent out.
⢠Acted as secretary for Texas Forwardâs legislative and communications committees. ⢠Worked with legislatorsâ offices to advocate for investments in mental health, general healthcare, and childrenâs healthcare. ⢠Organized and executed the Kids, Cuts & the Texas Budget event at the UT School of Social Work, which included an in-depth discussion on the effect of budget cuts on childrenâs healthcare. ⢠Coordinated volunteers for a statewide mobilization initiative at the Texas Capitol. ⢠Daily, identified news clips that related to Texas Forwardâs âbalanced approachâ message, for posting on TXForward.org and the Texas Forward social media pages.
Community and Administrative Leadership track, with a focus on policy analysis.
⢠Created and implemented all DORPG services. ⢠Developed and maintained a Dropout Prevention and Recovery advisory board composed of school personnel and community members. ⢠Forged partnerships between the SUCCESS High School and community organizations that lasted beyond my employment with the District. ⢠Coordinated a pilot grant program that before 10/08 had never been implemented anywhere in Texas. ⢠Gathered data pertaining to the efficacy of dropout recovery/prevention programs in RRISD. ⢠DORPGâs services were directly responsible for a significant decrease in the Districtâs dropout rate.
Case Manager working with the families of elementary and middle school-aged children with needs too high for the schools' resources to handle. Accomplishments: ⢠Co-coordinated 2nd Annual RRISD Parent Summit, putting in over 300 hours, and designing the Summit program. ⢠Gained training in Wraparound Services through care coordinator training meetings. ⢠Served over 30 children and their families.
Internship during my RRISD summer break. ⢠Managed a 6-person team whose outreach efforts brought over 5000 job applicants to the Partnershipâs Sixth Annual Public Service Town Hall & Career Fair. ⢠Gained familiarity working with a wide range of federal and educational organizations. ⢠Managed pages of the Partnershipâs student-focused website, and researched federal job postings to create the weekly âHot Jobsâ email blast.
Provided case management and counseling to over 20 students and facilitated several therapeutic and educational groups.
